IP&IT LAW – 2024 Started

IP CLUB and the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ announced the start of the 9th All-Russian youth competition on the law of information technology and intellectual property - IP&IT LAW 2024. The competition is traditionally held under the auspices of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and with the support of the Intellectual Property Court rights and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

Among the goals of IP&IT LAW 2024 is to identify promising areas in the field of “digital law”, protection of intellectual rights in the digital environment and legal support of e-business; to stimulate the growth of research activities; to attract state and public attention to the legal aspects of the digital economy.

University students, graduate students, young professionals from Russia and other countries with the necessary knowledge in the field of law are invited to participate in IP&IT LAW 2024.

Contestants must submit previously unpublished research that, based on legislation, doctrine, domestic and foreign judicial practice, examines problematic legal issues and also provides new options for solving them. Topics in 2024:

  1. Domain name as an object of civil rights
  2. Problems of legal regulation of addressing means
  3. Regulation of generative neural networks
  4. Methods of combating trolling in the field of copyright and other types of trolling
  5. Problems of legal protection of data and databases - points of intersection

Participation in the competition is free. The research along with the application must be sent to the organizing committee (org@ipclub.in) before February 1, 2024. Each competition entry will be assessed according to several criteria: style of presentation, consistency in argumentation, quality of analysis of the necessary sources, literacy in the presentation of the material, originality of the author's approach. The assessment will be carried out by a jury consisting of specialists in the field of intellectual property and information technology law, including doctors of legal sciences and candidates of legal sciences.

The laureates of the Competition are awarded valuable awards from the organizers and partners of the Competition - cash prizes from 50,000 rubles, certificates for free participation in educational programs, paid internships and many others! The best competition entries will be published in the Journal of the Intellectual Property Rights Court.

All-Russian youth competition of works on the law of information technology and intellectual property (IP&IT LAW) has been held by IP CLUB and the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ since 2015.

In 2018, the competition was awarded the “Runet Prize” in the special category “For contribution to the development of legal thought in a digital society”, and in 2022 it was listed in the rating of the main legal academic competitions “Pravo.Ru” (“Scientific research competitions” category).

The competition is held under the auspices of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with the support of the Intellectual Rights Court and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation
