On September 27 – October 1, the 2nd International School of Internet Safety for Youth “Digital Breakthrough” was held at the Youth Educational Center “Management Workshop ‘Senezh’”. The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ acted as a partner of the School.
On September 29, as part of the evening program, the Project Manager of the Center, Alexander Drozdov, and the Chairman of the Youth Council of the Coordination Center, Andrey Aleinikov, held a quiz for the School participants “Study the Internet & Govern It!”. After a busy day and the business part of the program, six teams gathered to test their knowledge about everything related to the Internet: from its history to digital services and platforms. The questions were not easy, but the teams coped with almost all of them - even a super game was held to determine the winning team.
The next day, September 30, as part of the School’s career track, Andrey Aleinikov congratulated the participants on Internet Day in Russia and spoke about the youth projects of the Coordination Center: the interactive educational project “Study the Internet & Govern It!”, Summer School on Internet Governance, Youth Council of the Center and the discussion club “Digital Reality”.
“Among all the prizes as a result of the quiz, the book by Jovan Kurbalija “Internet Governance” aroused the greatest interest. It is obvious that the younger generation has a need for such knowledge, and platforms such as the School of Internet (UN)Safety help to obtain it completely free of charge,” Andrey Aleinikov said.
Members of the Youth Council of the Coordination Center Karina Strebkova and Marina Moiseeva also took part in the School.
“The II International School of Internet Safety for Youth was organized with the broad support of Moscow State Law Academy named after Kutafin. The event, first of all, was useful for lawyers: they talked a lot about how to regulate legal relations in the digital space. Of course, this is important, because it is obvious that in the next 50 years the Internet will reach a new level, so you need to be ready to defend the law in the virtual world,” said Karina Strebkova.
Marina Moiseeva shared her impressions of participation: “The school is about the atmosphere, activities and finding oneself. The ramification of the lecture-workshop tracks allows you to obtain a base on specific topics of interest. And by defending group projects within the project block, you can get support from experts and help in their development.”
“If I had to give an example of a camp, not for children, but for career-oriented youth, I would name the School. There are a lot of informal activities inside, however, you need to find time for them outside the educational program, because in any school (and this one is no exception), the main thing that is implied by the concept is study,” she said.
