How Digital Technologies Changing Schools

On September 27, the first webinar of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ took place on the VK platform of the “Safe Information Environment for Children” project, where they discussed why a modern teacher needs in digital technologies.
The meeting was opened with a report from Olga Yakovleva, Head of the Project Department of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. She spoke about the interactive educational project “Study the Internet & Govern It,” as well as about the Championship for students, which is currently taking place on its platform.

2023 has been declared the Year of Teachers and Mentors in Russia, so the main topic of the championship was “Technology in Education.” The championship tasks are related to the history of education, innovative teachers, cybernetics, computer science and digital technologies in education. According to Olga, participation in the Championship is “not only an opportunity to win prizes that will be useful in study and leisure, but also a way to test your digital literacy and gain experience in participating in large-scale interactive competitions.”

The webinar continued with a report from Tatyana Lomakina, a practicing media educator and computer science teacher at Moscow school No. 2120. She shared her own experience of using digital tools to prepare and conduct lessons. For example, to visualize the material and make it clearer, Tatyana suggests that her colleagues use the Russian designer of presentations, posters and designs for any other information materials Flyvi; Yandex Documents is suitable for collaborating with students, and the MyQuiz service is suitable for testing knowledge and the quality of assimilation of new material. Tatyana is sure that digital technologies have made the educational process less routine: this simplifies the teacher’s work and attracts the interest of students, who often feel more comfortable and confident in the cyber environment.

The next webinar of the Coordination Center on the “Safe Information Environment for Children” platform will take place in a month - on October 25. The meeting participants will discuss the “confrontation” between digital and media literacy, and will also talk about the competition for beginning online journalists and bloggers “DOT-Journalism. Juniors."

A safe information environment for childhood is a comprehensive project of the Academy of Innovative Education and Development for parents, teachers and young professionals of various profiles working with children and the youth, as well as participating in the process of digitalization of education, examination of children's information products and increasing the overall level of digital literacy of the younger generation.

The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ plans to hold a series of thematic meetings on the project’s VK platform, where, together with guests - practitioners, colleagues, partners and friends - it will present its educational, research and competitive projects for students, teachers, parents and professional community, and will also discuss issues and problems that in one way or another relate to these projects.
