The NAIIS Forum Presents Educational and Youth Projects of the Coordination Center for .RU/.РФ

A round table "Information Security of Children, Adolescents, and Youth in the Context of Digital Transformations: Priorities, Principles, and Ensuring Frameworks" was held on September 20, at the XVII international forum “Partnership of the State Authorities, Civil Society and the Business Community in Ensuring International Information Security”. The moderator of the round table was the professor of Lomonosov Moscow State University, academician of the Russian Academy of Education Galina Soldatova.

The topic of the round table, dedicated to ensuring the information security of the younger generation, became an innovation of the Forum. Participants are experts representing various fields of humanities, online business, law enforcement agencies, legal scholars and legislators - discussed the recently approved Concept of Information Security for Children. The main emphasis was placed on the prevention of antisocial behavior and crime in the online environment, reducing the involvement of adolescents in extremist and terrorist activities, increasing the culture of safety and responsible attitude towards new communication technologies.

The Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, Andrey Vorobyev, addressed the round table. He spoke about the educational and youth projects of the Coordination Center to improve the digital literacy of the younger generation - the .ДЕТИ domain, the game “Study the Internet & Govern It!”, as well as a number of youth initiatives. One of these initiatives is the Youth Council of the Coordination Center, whose main task is to popularize the field of Internet Governance among young people. “Members of the Youth Council, many of whom are graduates of our Summer School on Internet Government, take part in the preparation of various educational events for youth, children and the youth, participate in the work of the Digital Reality discussion club, prepare materials for information resources, and actively participate in events at the international level. For example, right now there are active preparations for participation in IGF 2023, which will be held in October in Japan,” said Andrey Vorobyev. According to him, the youth track has been one of the components of the main program of the World Internet Governance Forum for several years now, and members of the Youth Council, together with the IIB School and the Center for Global IT Cooperation, will hold four sessions at IGF 2023, the topics of which will be the use of artificial intelligence in education, the dangers of the Dark Web, youth cooperation on the global network, as well as the international legal dimension of ICT.

Two graduates of the Summer School on Internet Governance took part in the round table.. Arevik Martirosyan (Institute of Current International Issues of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) shared the experience of the IIB School, talking about international information security from the point of view of the Russian youth, and Marianna Alborova (Center for International Information Security and Science and Technology Policy at MGIMO) made a report on the impact of information technology on development the younger generation.
