The opening of the Internet Week in Petrozavodsk, which is held by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ with the support of the Administration of the Petrozavodsk City District, Petrozavodsk State University (PetrGU), Petrozavodsk Municipal College and MediaWeb studio, will take place on September 11, 2023.
On September 11, a series of events will be opened by a greeting from a representative of the Administration of the Petrozavodsk City District, followed by a presentation on the competent choice of domain names, the legal aspects of their administration, the fight against the domain abuse, the work of state public domains and domains of state and municipal authorities from the director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev and Director General of the Internet design studio MediaWeb (regional representative of the domain registrar RU-CENTER in the Republic of Karelia) Elena Kuznetsova.
Then, a special lecture on the types of digital money will be delivered by the chief researcher of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation and the president of IP CLUB, Doctor of Law, Marina Rozhkova.
The participants will be given two lectures: one from South Ural State University Professor, Ph.D. Ekaterina Prilukova, on the "mind" of media reality's secrets, and the other from Academy of Innovative Education and Development Rector, Ph.D. Olga Rubtsova, on how to create a safe information environment at home and at school.
The "Safe Internet Lesson" and the quiz of the "Study the Internet & Govern It!" project will be presented to high school students and computer science teachers from Petrozavodsk schools after lunch.
Also, during the opening will be given the official start of the "School of Mentors" of the "Study the Internet & Govern It!". The Head of the Project Department of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Olga Yakovleva, the Rector of the Academy of Innovative Education and Development Olga Rubtsova and the Youth Digital Ombudsman Dmitry Gulyaev will tell the teachers of Petrozavodsk about the school of mentors and the opportunities to participate in it.

The central event of the Week will be the 16th International Conference of Administrators and Registrars of ccTLDs from the CIS countries, Central and Eastern Europe TLDCON 2023, which annually gathers leading registrars of various ccTLDs, Internet security specialists, representatives of the domain industry, lawyers, marketers and anyone who wants to keep abreast of the current digital agenda and who is interested in how the Internet works and develops. The conference will take place on September 12-13 at the Fregat Hotel.
In addition, during the Internet Week, experts from the Coordination Center, technical specialists and practitioners will give lectures and master classes for students of universities, technical schools and lyceums in Petrozavodsk on Internet Governance, protection of intellectual property, development of the use of the Russian language on the web, technical aspects of universal acceptance Cyrillic domains and e-mail addresses, as well as the fight against slander and insults on the network.
So, on September 11, students of the Institute of Economics and Law of PetrSU will be given lectures “Internet Governance: What is It About and for Whom?” (lecturer - Ilona Stadnik, Assistant Professor, Department of American Studies, Faculty of International Relations, St. Petersburg State University) and "How to Protect and Safeguard Intellectual Property on the Internet" (lecturer - Ekaterina Kalinicheva, Partner, Head of IP Protection Practice on the Internet, Semenov & Pevzner law firm). Students of the Physico-Technical Institute of PetrSU can attend the lecture “The State and Development of the Russian Language on the Internet. Universal Acceptance of Cyrillic Domain Names and E-mail Addresses” delivered by Maria Kolesnikova, Chief Analyst of the Coordination Center for .RU/.РФ, Head of the Russian Working Group on Universal Acceptance, and a lecture “Technical Aspects of Internationalization of Domain and EMail Addressing: History and Practice” - it will be read by Vadim Mikhailov, infrastructure consultant of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, a member of the Russian Working Group on Universal Acceptance.
On the same day, two lectures will be held for students of the Petrozavodsk College of Municipal Economy: President of the law firm "Internet and Law", Professor, Doctor of Law Anton Sergo will give a lecture on the topic "Internet Website on the Internet: legal Aspects". He will talk about the legal regime of website elements, domain disputes, website promotion problems, typical copyright infringements and information intermediaries in their protection. In addition, students of the technical school will have a lecture by Evgeny Kuskevich, Head of the .SU registry, on topical technological problems of critical infrastructure.
A master class headlined "Slander, Insult, and Defamation - Three Pillars of Aggression on the Web?" will be given by the Youth Digital Ombudsman D. Gulyaev on September 12 and the student quiz "Study the Internet & Govern It!". At the master class, the guys will be able to understand the basic terms related to destructive phenomena. Participants will also get acquainted with the legal assessment of insult and defamation and learn about legal liability for these offenses. And at the end of the master class, students will take part in a quiz on knowledge of the basics of the Internet and computer "Study the Internet & Govern It!", where they will be able to assess their level of preparation and measure their strength with other children.
Additionally, the Internet Week in Petrozavodsk will come to an end on September 13 with the International Telecommunication Union master class for educators "Children's Safety in the Online Environment," which will include a lecture on the topic, based on the recommendations developed by the International Telecommunication Union (Guidelines on Child Online Protection). Teachers will be able to get acquainted with the project "Study the Internet & Govern It!" and explore its capabilities and tools that can be used in working with students. Teachers will also be able to try their hand at the project quiz.
On the same day, September 13, at the University Lyceum of Petrozavodsk, there will be a master class by the Youth Digital Ombudsman D. Gulyaev "Slander, Insult and Defamation - three Pillars of Aggression on the Web?" and the quiz "Study the Internet & Govern It!" among students. The event will be held at the Fregat Hotel.
