Ongoing work is being done on the schedule of the 16-th International conference for ccTLD registries and registrars of CIS, Central and Eastern Europe TLDCON 2023, which is going to be held on September 11-13 in Petrozavodsk (Karelia). The organizer of the conference is the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. The general partner is the Technical Center of Internet. Partners - MSK-IX, RIPN and RU-CENTER.
Traditionally, during the two days of the event, participants raise issues of information security and infrastructure development, legal support, marketing, and relationships between registries and registrars.
On September 11, conference participants can take part in two events leading up to the official opening of TLDCON 2023: a meeting of the Regional Coordinating Group for Universal Acceptance of the CIS and Eastern Europe and a meeting of representatives of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and the Technical Center of Internet with domain name registrars.
The working program of the conference on September 12 will be opened by the already traditional section " News from Partners ", where representatives of Russian and foreign registries, international organizations, technical companies, domain name registrars will make brief reports on interesting facts of the past year, plans for the next year and announce their speeches in subsequent sections of the conference.
Legal section " IT Legislation Issues " will be held by IP Club President Marina Rozhkova. Its participants will talk about import substitution in the field of domain disputes, discuss current problems of legal regulation of transactions with domains, learn first-hand about the innovations of Russian legislation in the field of IT in 2022-2023, and also get acquainted with the peculiarities of the regulation of the domain industry in the Republic of Belarus and the news of Internet regulation in the European Union.
The first day of the conference will continue with a presentation by ICANN Senior Vice President and CTO John Crane, in which he will outline ICANN's comprehensive approach to combating Domain Name System (DNS) abuse, as well as provide an update on domain name abuse.
The topic will be continued by the section “Security on the Internet”, where the conversation will focus on the landscape of information security threats in 2023. Participants will talk about what can become an additional factor in network security, share their experience of surviving in the world of wild phishing, talk about modern cyber warfare, and much more.
The first day of the conference will end with the section "New Marketing Techniques and Development Trends in ccTLDs". Specialists from the Asia-Pacific region and the CIS countries, as well as Russian practitioners will talk about different approaches in this area.
On September 13, the work program will open with a Network Measurements and Analysis section, where analysts and technical experts will share their research results. And the working program will end with a joint section with representatives of competent organizations "Time is Money: The Market Under the Gun." The section is devoted to security in the domain space of the Internet. The main topic of the section will be a discussion of modern trends related to phishing, including the growth in the number of resources aimed at users of specific marketplaces. The participants will tell you what methods the attackers use and what losses users and sites suffer, as well as share the most effective methods of confrontation.
Also, for the participants who will arrive in Petrozavodsk in person, the organizers have prepared an extensive cultural and entertainment program. This is a meeting with the Russian song choir "Pitaritsy", whose repertoire includes traditional songs of the Russian North and author's songs, acquaintance with the diverse cuisine of Karelia at a gastro dinner, as well as a sightseeing tour of Petrozavodsk with a visit to a concert in the house of the national song and dance ensemble of Karelia "Kantele".
TLDCON 2023 is going to be held in a hybrid format, and participants who are unable to attend the conference room will have full access via video link with the opportunity to ask questions and share their views.
