The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ announced the start of accepting applications for the new Youth Council. The Youth Council is formed for a period of 1 year, young people aged 16 to 30 can become members of the Council, both delegated from public youth associations, industry and educational institutions, and on the basis of self-nomination.
The Youth Council was created to discuss projects and initiatives in the field of development and promotion of national domains .RU/.РФ, the development of their technological infrastructure, social and educational projects aimed at improving the digital literacy of the youth audience of Runet, increasing the interest of young people in acquiring competencies in the use of ICT, to the development and management of the national segment of the Internet, as well as representing the interests of the younger generation of Internet users.
Council members represent the interests of young people at Russian and international Internet Governance events such as the Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF) and the Internet Governance Forum of United Nations (IGF), participate in educational initiatives of the Coordination Center (Summer School on Internet Governance) and implement their own projects.
A vivid example of the joint activities of the Youth Council members is participation in the Internet Governance Forum (IGF): young people submit joint applications for networking sessions and workshops. Members of the Council take part in the forums not just as listeners, but also as organizers of their own sessions, which are included in the program.
“It can be quite difficult for a person interested in the topic of Internet Governance to understand how to enter this area and where to apply their expertise. The Youth Council is, first of all, a team of like-minded people with common interests. It helps to coordinate with each other, learn about new projects, events, keep abreast of the current agenda,” said Andrey Aleinikov, Chairman of the Youth Council.
The selection results for the new Youth Council will be announced in early autumn. You can apply until August 15th.
