On May 17, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ held a working meeting for heads and staff from the technical, development, and customer support divisions of the .RU and .РФ registrars - TechDay 2023 registrar technical services day. Domain industry experts spoke about different aspects of the work of registrars and the interaction of registrars with the registry, shared relevant information and answered questions from participants.
Vita Parshutina (Technical Center of Internet) spoke about the latest changes in the domain registration system, touched upon the statistics of filling in certain registry fields and announced planned registry updates. Further, Stanislav Karasev (CloudPlus) told the audience about how data is stored now, and what data storage problems businesses are experiencing, including now in Russia. He also touched upon the issues of data storage virtualization and informed the participants about the upcoming WEB3 approach, which solves many problems and challenges.
Coordination Center Infrastructure Consultant Vadim Mikhailov in his report "Proactive Detection Of Malicious Registrations" presented different approaches of registries and domain registrars to detecting malicious registrations. The report discussed the methods of approaches and the difficulties associated with this, and proposed domain registration scenarios that make it possible to increase the efficiency of work against intruders - for example, deferred registration, deferred delegation of domains and monitoring of already registered and delegated domain names.
A discussion about long-term domain registration and one about ways to identify users and domain administrators took place at the end of the working meeting.
