Improving Financial Literacy Through The Game

The all-Russian methodological webinar "Methods For Improving Digital Literacy", organized by the Association for the Development of Financial Literacy was held on February 2.

The seminar was opened by Andrey Andriyanov, Deputy General Director of the Association. He noted that according to the results of a study by the National Agency for Financial Studies (NAFI) analytical center conducted in 2020, only 28% of Russian citizens had digital literacy skills. The measurement indicators of the Digital Financial Literacy Index of Russians, released on February 1 this year, are much more optimistic: almost 90% have an average or high level of digital financial literacy, understand digital financial products and are aware of the possible risks of fraud in the digital environment. However, almost every third inhabitant of the country does not know that it is not safe to make money transfers and payments by connecting to the Internet via public Wi-Fi. Only 34% of study participants regularly change passwords on online shopping websites, and 38% of respondents consider cryptocurrency to be a full-fledged means of payment.

At the same time, 74% of Russians express their readyness to improve their knowledge in areas related to digital financial services and their safe use.
This can be done through various projects. One of them is an interactive educational project of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ “Study the Internet & Govern It!”, which allows you to learn how the Internet works, how digital technologies work, and teach you how to surf the net safely in a playful way. The head of social projects of the Center Victoria Bunchuk told about it to the audience of the seminar, noting that the project portal has a separate module dedicated to finance and e-commerce.

“Initially, we planned that children and teenagers would actively participate in our project, but now we understand that it is useful to all those who would like to improve their Internet use skills and find out what new Internet technologies are emerging in the modern world. Over the more than ten years of the project's history, 280,000 users from all over the country have taken part in it, and more than 10,000 people have already tested their knowledge in our annual All-Russian online championship. We invite to the website of the project игра-интернет.рф not only students, but also parents, teachers and everyone who is interested in this topic,” she added.

Recall that the basis of the project "Study the Internet & Govern It!" is a game portal that allows you to explore the possibilities and principles of the Internet in an accessible and fun way. A training mobile application or quiz will help to consolidate knowledge.

The recording of the webinar is available on the official website of the Association for the Development of Financial Literacy.
