The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ summed up the results of 2022 for Russian ccTLDs. Despite the fact that the year was not easy for the domain market, we have something to be proud of!
According to the Coordination Center, as of December 2022, there were 4,933,113 domains in the .RU zone, with which 1,958,673 administrators work, as well as 676,254 domains, with which 314,164 administrators work in the Cyrillic .РФ zone.
In total, in 2022, 1,356,648 new domains were registered in the .RU zone, and 164,965 new names in .РФ.
The .RU and .РФ domain zones have shown their resilience and ensured the stable functioning of Russian websites against the backdrop of sanctions and a sharp increase in the number of DDoS attacks. The Coordination Center and competent organizations guard the security of the Russian domain space: in 2022, competent organizations sent 16,324 appeals to registrars, following which 15,454 malicious domains were blocked.
Also, at the end of the year, the database of the Netoscope project was replenished with 21,961 new malwares, and most of them are associated with phishing.
In 2022, 36 new registrars were accredited in the .RU and .РФ domain zones. In total, 132 registrars from 12 Russian cities are accredited in .RU and .РФ domains: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Perm, Lipetsk, Samara, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Ulyanovsk, Smolensk, Naro-Fominsk and Elektrostal.
