On December 21, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ held a working meeting “Registrar Customer Service Day” for managers and employees of sales and customer support departments of domain name registrars in .RU and .РФ domains. The meeting was held online.
Participants discussed the shortcomings that are most often identified during scheduled inspections of registrars, changes in the procedures for setting pre-trial and judicial restrictions, as well as the procedure for the succession and inheritance of domain names in the event of liquidation of legal entities or the death of individuals, the duty of registrars to inform administrators and other topical issues.
Opening the meeting, Georgy Georgievsky, Head of the Department for Work with Registrars and Users of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, noted that such meetings are held to improve the skills of registrar employees and allow discussing topics that have caused the most number of questions in the past year, both among users and at the registrars.
As Yulia Demchenko, manager of the registrar and user department, said, in 2022 the experts of the Coordination Center conducted 14 scheduled and 6 unscheduled inspections, as a result of which 4 warnings were issued and the accreditation of 2 registrar companies was suspended. In total, since 2012, 155 scheduled inspections of compliance by registrars with the provisions of regulatory documents have been carried out.
Lyubov Vidanova, Head of the Support Group of the Registrar and User Relations Department, explained the specifics of the procedure for processing applications for the installation of pre-trial and judicial restrictions, and also spoke about the most common problems that users who order domain name registration services from registrar partners have.
Georgy Georgievsky has introduced a new domain selection service that will help users select domain names available for registration by keyword and other parameters, which, according to Georgy, will help increase the number of domains in the .RU and .РФ zones. He also spoke about the rules and procedure for canceling a domain name registration in the event of liquidation of a legal entity or the death of an individual and recalled the duties of registrars to inform domain administrators.
At the end of the meeting, the experts of the Coordination Center answered questions and discussed the proposals received from the registrars. The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ plans to continue holding such meetings with employees and heads of registrar companies so that registrars can quickly find out answers to the most pressing questions and build their activities based on the information received.
