On December 12, 2022, a new edition of the Rules for registering domain names in the .RU and .РФ domains will come into force.
The new version of the Rules was approved by the decision of the General Meeting of Founders of the ANO "Coordination Center for the National Internet Domain" dated November 7, 2022 (Minutes of the regular General Meeting of Founders of the ANO "Coordination Center for the National Internet Domain" No. 25 dated November 7, 2022).
Amendments to the Rules were initiated by the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications in order to prevent the personal data abuse by third parties when registering domain names.
The changes relate to paragraph 5.5 of the Rules, which regulates the termination of the delegation of domain names by the registrar. Now the delegation of a domain can be terminated by the registrar, including on the basis of a reasoned request of the head (deputy head or other authorized official) of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technology and Mass Communications in the event of registering a domain name using personal data of third parties without their consent or if this Internet resource contains information, access to which should be restricted on the territory of the Russian Federation in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Law of July 27, 2006 No. 149-FZ “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection”.
