Safe Internet League Introduced A New Portal

A presentation of the Safe Internet League's new website took place on September 15 at the Rossiya Segodnya International News Agency's press center. At the press conference, parents, teachers, and others received educational and methodological materials on children's online safety.

Ekaterina Mizulina, Director of the Safe Internet League and a member of the Russian Federation's Civic Chamber, spoke to reporters about the organization's efforts to train volunteers to engage with kids, youth, parents, and teachers.

45% of kids in Russia, according to the Safe Internet League, have experienced negative impacts from social networks. More than 20 potential Internet threats are identified by League specialists, as to which parents and children have expressed concern. No less crucial than the use of contemporary methods for filtering and blocking harmful content is educating kids and teenagers about the presence and operation of the Internet. The majority of scenarios in which a child can be hurt online can be prevented by taking precautions against risky behavior.

The Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev also took part in the press conference. In his speech, he noted that despite the fact that modern children and youth are on formal terms with the Internet, they do not quite understand how to behave in it and not fall for the hook of intruders.

“Many adults assume they have a comprehensive understanding of the Web because they have mastered a few smartphone apps, but this is not necessarily the case. Safeguarding users from potential risks on the Internet is our responsibility as the national domain registries in Russia, together with that of the Safe Internet League, the government, and a number of impartial public organizations. We appreciate the Safe Internet League's partnership and the work we undertake together to make the Internet safer,” said Andrey Vorobyev.

The redesigned Safe Internet League portal has tips on internet safety.
