The Youth Council of the Coordination Center has seen certain changes

The Youth Council of the Coordination Center for TLD.RU/.PФ has officially started functioning with its new membership. Along with new members who are interested in Internet Governance challenges, the Council also includes its active members who took part in the activities of the Coordination Center's Youth Council last year.

On August 30, representatives of the Youth Council paid a visit to the Center for Global IT Cooperation's office along with Andrey Vorobyev, Director of the Coordination Center. The Youth Council members were given an overview of the Center's activities by Director Vadim Glushchenko and Chairman of the Board Roman Chukov, as well as information on its most fascinating areas of work. Dmitry Gulyaev, the Youth Digital Ombudsman, also attended the conference.

A video conference was set up for guests who were unable to attend the meeting in person because the Council members are spread out across other places in addition to Moscow.

"It's amazing to see so many enthusiastic and hard-working young individuals who can contribute their knowledge in a variety of quite varied fields to Internet Governance. The driving force that will steer the development of the Internet in a positive direction should be the synergy of thoughts and opinions of young people and more experienced colleagues," said Andrey Vorobyev.

Arevik Martirosyan, the author of the School of International Information Security, welcomed the new Youth Council members: “Dear colleagues, I congratulate everyone on this fantastic occasion, the beginning of the new convocation of the Center’s Youth Council. The younger generation has an excellent opportunity to implement their ideas in the area of Internet Governance and to broaden their professional networks. This year, I have no doubt that we will do much more”.

The Youth Council's chairman, Andrey Aleinikov, continued, “We are working to put together a group of young people who are genuinely engaged in Internet Governance. Such individuals exist not just in our Youth Council but also at the School of International Information Security, the Center for Global IT Cooperation, the staff of the Youth Digital Ombudsman, and among the students at the Summer School on Internet Governance. In order for organizations and institutions that are somewhat involved in this process to design their policies while taking into account the viewpoints of the younger generation, we will work to strengthen our cooperation so that young people can represent their point of view on Internet Governance”.
