On August 17, an online seminar was held for system administrators on installing and adjusting a mail service with support for Cyrillic domain names and email addresses in the .РФ domain.
The seminar was held by Igor Lidin, a developer and expert in the implementation of internationalized mail. Igor is also a member of the Russian Working Group on Universal Acceptance.
Participants learned key concepts related to internationalized domain names and email addresses and gained practical knowledge on how to deploy a complete EAI-enabled mail system, from choosing the right software to taking internationalization into account when configuring its components.
The seminar also demonstrated all the stages of installing and adjusting a mail system based on freely distributed software, which allows not only to exchange letters with Cyrillic email addresses, but also to create mailbox accounts entirely in Russian.
