On June 29, the General Meeting of Founders of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ adopted the center’s performance report for 2021, prepared by Director Andrey Vorobyev. The report was published on the Coordination Center website.
The report says that as of 2021, the Russian ccTLD .RU had 5,021,384 domain names. The domain ranked 5th among all top-level country-code domains. In .РФ, there are 674,946 domain names; it continues to be the largest Cyrillic domain and one of the most popular top-level IDNs.
The important events of 2021 included the beginning of Data Escrow and the introduction of a reserve system of domain registration in .RU and .РФ. Both projects are partnered by MSK-IX.
The report pays a great deal of attention to the 20th anniversary of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and to projects marking the anniversary: the website 20cctld.ru and video interviews with sector veterans about the history of the center and Runet, which were published on the Coordination Center’s YouTube channel and website.
