The results of the latest international events were discussed at the meeting of the Internet Governance Committee

On June 23, there was a meeting of the Internet Governance Committee members of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ. The participants of the meeting discussed the results of the latest international events on Internet Governance, which were attended by experts from the Center.

So, from June 6 to June 16, 2022, the World Telecommunication Development Conference was held in Kigali (Rwanda), by the International Telecommunication Union. The topic of the conference was "Connecting those who are not yet connected to achieve sustainable development". It provided participants with a unique opportunity to develop innovative approaches and new models of cooperation in the field of connectivity and the use of digital solutions in this last decade of action to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference also included Roundtable events for digital development under the ITU Partner2Connect (P2C) initiative. The Roundtable provided an opportunity for Member States, the private sector, academia, civil society, international organizations and others to announce their commitment to the P2C Digital Coalition and together advance digital transformation for all.

On the eve of the Conference, on June 2-4, there was a Global Youth Summit “Generation Connect”, in which members of the Youth Council of the Coordination Center took part.

Another event that Center’s experts participated in was the ICANN 74, held in The Hague (Netherlands) on June 13-16, 2022. ICANN74 was focused on policy development and community outreach, and Internet Governance issues were given considerable attention. In particular, the ICANN Government Engagement Team held a plenary session on Geopolitical, Legislative and Regulatory Updates on Internet-related public policy issues that may affect ICANN's technical mission, policies and processes.

Finally, on June 20-22, Trieste (Italy) hosted the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG). EuroDIG is an open, multistakeholder platform for discussing and exchanging ideas on emerging issues and issues related to the Internet. EuroDIG promotes dialogue and collaboration with the Internet community on public Internet policy issues. The results of the discussions are transmitted in the form of "messages" that are sent to European policy makers and are also transmitted to the annual UN Global Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

The participants of the meeting identified the key topics that will influence the possible directions of the development of the Internet, and also discussed the role and tasks of the Russian Internet community in the international dialogue.
