Yesterday, on March 1st, the CENTR Board of Directors informed the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ of the suspension of its membership in the organization. The report on the CENTR website says that this is done to "safeguard trust within the CENTR community." This suspension will be assessed by the CENTR General Assembly on 16 March 2022.
CENTR (Council of European National TLD Registries) is an association of country code top-level domains registries in Europe, a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience between registries in the region. This suspension of the Coordination Center’s membership in CENTR has no effect on the operability of the Russian ccTLDs .RU and .РФ.
The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ has been a member of CENTR since 2003. In 2018, the Coordination Center hosted the CENTR Jamboree 2018 conference, which was held in Moscow for the first time in its history. The conference has been attended by more than 150 experts and specialists representing ccTLD registries that are also members of the CENTR association.
