Digital Governance and Diplomacy in 2022: Top 10 Trends

A Russian translation of the article by Jovan Kurbalija “10 Digital Governance and Diplomacy Trends for 2022” has been posted on the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ website.

The article went public on the Internet resource of the Swiss-Maltese NGO Diplo, which specializes in capacity building in the field of Internet Governance and digital policy, at the end of January 2022.

The article says on the impact that digital governance and diplomacy have on each other, and what trends can be identified today in relation to them. Jovan Kurbalija lists ten trends in three main areas: digital geopolitics and geo-economics, the emergence of new digital topics on the diplomatic agenda, and the development of new diplomacy tools. For each of these trends, the author gives brief forecasts, speculates on the events associated with the selected trends, and also analyzes the state and international policies for each of them.

The article notes that the digital world has a huge impact on the real world, consequently, more and more familiar words are being defined as "digital". Countries are making efforts to ensure their digital sovereignty, the digital agenda is becoming an integral part of international negotiations, and the process of negotiations on digital trade is becoming a determining factor for the further development of the economy. All of this and much more - in the article “10 Digital Governance and Diplomacy Trends for 2022”.
