The round table was held at the office of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ on February 7th. It was organized by the Coordination Center and the Academy of Innovative Education and Development with the support of the Women's Union of Russia and the National Association for the Interaction of the Educational Organizations’ Governing Councils. More than 850 people took part in the round table. Teachers, experts, and project managers in the field of education, culture, science, communications and public relations, information security, digital economy, representatives of state and municipal authorities, social workers, and representatives of public organizations were among them.
The participants discussed current issues of modern education such as regulatory support of information security for children and the youth; global cyber threats and information confrontation in cyberspace and the formation of a culture of personal information security using the means and methods of media education and critical thinking.
Andrey Vorobyev, Director of Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ domains noted that the company has been participating in the Safe Runet Week since its first years: “We actively participate in specialized events and implement a number of social and educational projects aimed at increasing the level of digital literacy of various categories of users. The applicability of these projects is only increasing from year to year, and I can say without exaggeration that they are in demand in all regions of Russia.”
“Today we are more and more present in one way or another in the digital environment, and therefore it is necessary to change the traditional approach to the socialization of children online. We look forward to making the Internet a completely safe and understandable place for children. Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ implements projects that help to increase the digital literacy of children and the youth. For example, "Study the Internet & Govern It!" and the Family IT Marathon, which is held jointly with the Academy of Innovative Education and Development. The Coordination Center is also the founder of the Smart Internet Foundation, which is engaged in the creation of positive space in .ДЕТИ domain zone. All websites in the .ДЕТИ domain are constantly monitored to prevent malicious activities, and contain an interesting entertaining and educational content,” added Tatyana Novikova, project manager of the Coordination Center.
The round table was held as part of the Safe Runet Week, a traditional series of events on the topic of Digital Security, which is an official part of world events dedicated to the International Safe Internet Day. This year, Safe Runet Week is held for the 15th time.
