Winners of the 1st Fotodomen.РФ national photo contest were announced during the 13th Russian Internet Week (RIW 20/21). The contest was organized by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, with the support of registrars REG.RU, RU-CENTER and RF.RU.

Audience choice awards went to Yelena Nekhlyudova, Liliya Yusupova and Alexei Davydenko. A special prize from the Director of the Coordination Center went to Yevgeny Gordiyenko’s My Omsk.
Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev, PR Manager and curator of the contest Andrei Aleinikov and REG.RU Press Secretary Anastasia Kryuchkova congratulated the winners.
“The goal of this contest is to make .РФ more popular among end users by demonstrating the wide range of opportunities offered by Cyrillic domains. The contest shows that Cyrillic domains are used all over our country to promote and advertise goods and services, companies and various projects. We received a great number of aesthetically remarkable works (more than 1,000 photos were submitted for the contest) although, due to strict rules, not all of them were included in the voting. For example, websites in some of the domains featured in the photographs were not active.
We hope that the contest will showcase the advantages of using Russian-language domains to individual users and the business community,” commented Director of the Coordination Center Andrey Vorobyev.
“I think the results are very satisfying. It was an excellent chance for users to show off their creativity and for some to promote their businesses. Our broad audience could see the great variety of projects in .РФ and the opportunities of using a Cyrillic domain,” Anastasia Kryuchkova said.
The contest was launched on October 1, with the deadline for entry submission on November 20. The submitted photographs had to feature an .РФ domain with an active website.
Contestants competed in five categories:
- Nature in .РФ;
- Delicious in .РФ;
- Business in .РФ;
- Cities in .РФ;
- Fashion in .РФ
Three contestants selected by the audience also received prizes.
Experts shortlisted five best entries in each category for the jury to select three winners. Representatives of the Coordination Center, RU-CENTER, the Technical Center of Internet, RF.RU and MSK-IX were among jury members. No Grand Prix was awarded this year.
Contest participants submitted 1,337 photographs but only 210 were qualified according to the contest rules. As one of the main requirements, photos had to feature an .РФ domain.
