HostObzor: Platform to discuss topical domain issues

The 33rd HostObzor national forum of hosting providers and domain registrars has just closed in Roshchino near St. Petersburg. As before, participants in the event discussed a whole range of issues that are important for hosting providers, registrars and other members of the internet industry.

Launched on March 1, 2011, the HostObzor project marks its 20th anniversary this year. In fact, HostObzor and the Coordination Center are the same age: the center also celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2021.

For many years, the Coordination Center has served as a co-organizer and general partner of the HostObzor forums and held forum sessions, meetings and workshops. This year’s event was no exception. As part of the forum, the Coordination Center held a working meeting with registrars and hosting providers. Its participants discussed the innovations in the Russian registry of country code domains, draft laws that will affect the development of the domain registration market, as well as such current issues as the prospects for connecting the information systems of .RU and .РФ accredited registrars to the Unified Identification and Authentication System.

Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev reported on the Domain Patrol project and told the audience about the interaction between the registry, registrars and competent organizations responsible for exposing illicit use of domain names.

Participants in the 33rd HostObzor also were presented the latest achievements of the Поддерживаю.РФ project, the cutting-edge tools for testing software for readiness to accept Cyrillic domain names and e-mail addresses. They also discovered how cooperation with developers to introduce Universal Acceptance in their solutions is going on.

“We traditionally support HostObzor because this platform is designed to provide a place for discussion of the most topical issues at a high professional level, both during official discussions and on the sidelines with the senior representatives of hosting providers and domain registrars. The Coordination Center will continue to take part in HostObzor events as a general partner,” Andrey Vorobyev said.
