The 9th CTF Summer School closed on August 9. The event, traditionally organized by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, brought together 87 students from high schools and universities studying information security, members of Russian CTF teams and InfoSec experts at a school in Zvenigorod not far away from Moscow. They attended lectures on information security and the basics of CTF, and then consolidated their new knowledge at lab practicums and through solving CTF problems.
Those taking part were divided into 12 groups. Everyday each one had to score as many points as possible by performing development and design tasks. In addition to the competitive part of the whole thing, the Summer School program included lectures and workshops given by heads of information security services, analysts and well-known Russian cybersecurity and communications practitioners.
The CTF Summer School participants demonstrated a high level of technology training and were able to implement their solutions in a very short period of time. This once again confirms that Russia has some very talented young IT specialists. The Coordination Center prepared gifts for the winners – comfortable sweatshirts, useful electronic devices and nice souvenirs with the Center’s logo.
