On June 17, the first lectures of the School of International Information Security were delivered at the Institute of Contemporary International Studies of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The School was organized jointly with Huawei Russia, Megafon PJSC and the Youth Council of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.
The students learned about the specifics of 5G networks, the main approaches to information security and network protection standards from experts on wireless technologies at Huawei Russia Konstantin Kolovsky and the director of the trans-Arctic submarine cable project at Megafon Yelena Kiryushina.
Konstantin Kolovsky said that today the world is actively introducing a new generation of mobile communications. The main advantages of 5G are higher speed and ultra-low latency, which will allow the use of virtual reality and internet of things in everyday life, as well as make it possible to remotely control devices over long distances.
The second lecture was delivered by Yelena Kiryushina. She talked about how information security is ensured in the modern world, and highlighted external and internal threats to the systems and technologies of both public and private companies.
After the lectures, the students were asked to write an essay on the topic “The role of the IT sector in ensuring international information security.” The writers of the best 20 essays will be invited to a workshop at the Huawei Open Lab. The deadline for submitting the essay is July 18. The organizers will send more detailed information about the format of the essay and the upcoming workshop to the participants by e-mail in the near future.
The School of International Information Security is a project based on the Diplomatic Academy and the Council of Young Scientists of the Diplomatic Academy.
