Online seminar for Python developers: Introducing IDN and EAI support

At 17:00 on March 10, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ will hold a free online seminar on introducing support of internationalized domain names (IDNs) and email address internationalization (EAI) for developers of Python software. It will be held by Anton Vorshevsky, information system architect and popularizer of programming.

Today more Runet users are using addressing tools in Russian, such as Cyrillic domain names in the .РФ domain. Such site addresses are easy to read and remember. However, even today not all websites, applications and systems fully support Cyrillic domain names and email addresses, despite the fact that there are technical solutions and standards.

At the online seminar, developers in Python and other programming languages will be able to learn how to implement the support of domains and emails with symbols in Russian and other national alphabets in their software products and services. The seminar will also be useful for DevOps engineers, managers and technical directors of IT projects.

Following topics will be discussed:

  • Key concepts: EAI, IDN, Universal Acceptance;
  • Current problems when using Python to work with internationalized domain names and emails, including their validation;
  • Libraries for working with IDN and EAI in Python and how to use them;
  • Best practices of developing applications complying with the principles of Universal Acceptance of domains and emails.

Registration

The event is held by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ as part of the Поддерживаю.РФ project aimed at developing an ecosystem to support domain names and emails in national languages, first of all in the Cyrillic domain .РФ, including the implementation of current technical standards and their adaption in software products, applications and services.
