On December 15, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ will hold a news conference, 10th Anniversary of .РФ: Results of the Year and the Project Поддерживаю.РФ, at TASS. The news conference will be held online and start at noon Moscow time.
Participants in the conference will summarize the anniversary year of the Russian Cyrillic domain .РФ and present the results achieved during the first year of the Поддерживаю.РФ project on developing an ecosystem to support internationalized domain names and e-mail addresses on the Runet.
The experts will also talk about the principles of universal acceptance of all available domain names and e-mail addresses and about future steps to support this initiative at the global and local levels, and discuss how popular .РФ is among Runet users today, how to overcome technical and systemic obstacles to the wide use of Cyrillic addressing in the network, and how .РФ contributes to the development of cultural identity and the Russian language in the network.
The news conference participants will be: Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev, Director of the Russian Association for Electronic Communications Sergey Plugotarenko, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Association for Documentary Telecommunications Alexander Ivanyuk, Executive Director of the hosting provider and domain registrar REG.RU Svetlana Liyenko, Editor-in-Chief of the internet portal Gramota.ru and researcher at the Vinogradov Institute of the Russian Language at the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Pakhomov and other winners in the Coordination Center’s special category, 10th Anniversary of .РФ + Universal Acceptance, at the national Runet Prize awards ceremony.

On May 12, 2020, .РФ celebrated its 10th anniversary. During this time, it became the largest among the Cyrillic ccTLDs and also took one of the leading positions in the world ranking of national IDNs. The anniversary year was marked by many festive and educational events, as well as by the launch of the Поддерживаю.РФ project, whose participants were able not only to get acquainted with modern standards and practices for supporting IDNs and EAI, but also to take part in the software development process to comply with these standards. During the year, the project specialists conducted several trainings for technical specialists, released educational materials on universal acceptance, IDN and EAI, as well as developed studies on the readiness of Russian software, web services and applications to work with IDN and EAI, in particular, with Cyrillic addressing.
