The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and Belarusian Presidential Operations and Analysis Center (OAC) that manages TLD .BY and .БЕЛ have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to Counteract and Prevent Violations on the Internet. The document was signed by Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev and Andrey Pavlyuchenko, Head of the OAC under the President of the Republic of Belarus.
The memorandum envisages the exchange of experience in countering and preventing offences in cyberspace such as phishing, unauthorized access to information systems, spreading malware, managing malware and botnets. The parties agreed to provide consultancy to each other and also to exchange information on domain names in .RU/.РФ and .BY/.БЕЛ in cases of them being used for illegal purposes.
“The TLD .BY/.BEL registry is not just our partner. They are our friends and teammates. Both Belarusian and Russian users operate in a single cyberspace, and it is important for us to ensure their security on any resource on Runet or on Belnet. The memorandum we have signed will make the internet landscape in Russia and Belarus even more reliable and stable,” Andrey Vorobyev noted.
The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ cooperates with many national registries of country code top-level domains when it comes to security and development of domain zones. Similar Memorandums of Understanding have been signed with ccTLDs of the Republic of Vietnam, .VN, and the People’s Republic of China, .CN. The Coordination Center has also signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in cybersecurity with other Russian top-level domain registries – the Foundation for Internet Development (.SU) and the Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development (FAITID) (.MOSCOW and .МОСКВА).
