On September 21, Moscow was the venue of the final event of the 24th Russian Internet Forum (RIF 2020), RIF in the City. The forum organizers are RAEC, ROCIT and the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.
RIF in the City has become the first offline IT event since March 2020, but all RIF’s traditions were observed: the program was packed with sessions, roundtables and discussion panels. Among the speakers were Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Maksut Shadayev, leaders of the largest Russian and foreign IT companies, notable technical experts, celebrities, scientists and representatives of public organizations. There was also an exhibition. RIF in the City concluded with a party devoted to the 10th anniversary of the .РФ Cyrillic ccTLD.
The Coordination Center held a series of interesting events at the forum: the award ceremony for the winners of IP&IT Law 2020, the roundtable Is E-Trade an Issue of Trust?, open interviews by Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev to RBC TV News Editor Kirill Tokarev and TASS Deputy Editor-in-Chief Lana Samarina.
The exhibition included the Coordination Center stand and accredited registrars, where visitors could get a copy of a new brochure on valuating domain names in .RU and .РФ. Coordination Center experts who are in charge of this project worked at the stand. They answered questions asked by conference participants interested in appraising the domain names of their projects, and shared contacts of professional evaluators specializing in valuating intellectual property and using the developed methodology. During the evening of September 21, participants in the RIF in the City were invited to a party to mark the 10th anniversary of .РФ. The highlight of the event was the presentation of honorary certificates to the best ten registrars accredited in .RU and .РФ. The party concluded with an exciting quiz on the history of the internet and the Russian Cyrillic ccTLD .РФ.
