The new monitoring of .RU and .РФ carried out by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ noted that the number of registrations related to COVID-19 and measures to limit the pandemic continues to decrease.
The monitoring is aimed at identifying suspicious domains and reducing possible harm using the institute of competent organizations.
Over the past week, 54 coronavirus-related domains were registered in .RU and 3 in .РФ. The total increase was 57 domains, which is significantly lower than last week with 87 coronavirus-related registrations in .RU and .РФ.
Over the entire monitoring period (January–June 2020) 3,688 domain names were added to the list of domains containing words such as corona, covid, pandemia, gosuslugi, ковид, пандемия, госуслуги, выплата and others in .RU and 803 in .РФ, for a total of 4,491 coronavirus-related domains.
Kaspersky Lab, a competent cybersecurity company that is participating in the Netoscope project, flagged 1,863 coronavirus-related domains (1,565 in .RU and 298 in .РФ) with a “data loss threat” in its products. This means that all the devices protected by the Kaspersky Lab antivirus software will receive information about these domains and warnings of a potential threat. Last week, only one new domain was flagged.
