On June 3, the Coordination Center held a regular General Founders Meeting, where it was unanimously decided to accept the Russian Federation as a founder of the Coordination Center in accordance with Federal Law No.149 of July 27, 2006 On Information, Information Technologies and Data Protection (hereinafter Federal Law No.149) and Government Directive No.584-r of March 9, 2020. Russia will be represented by the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor).
Paragraph 4 of Article 14.2 of Federal Law No.149 envisages the Russian Federation becoming a co-founder of a non-profit organization which coordinates the formation of domain names that make up part of the domain name groups in the Russian national domain zone and which is the registered owner of the database in this zone at international organizations for the distribution of network addresses and domain names.
In accordance with Government Directive No.584-r, Roskomnadzor will appoint representatives of the Russian Federation to the Coordination Center’s management bodies (the Coordination Center Council).
