On February 26, 2014, a record about .ДЕТИ (children) Cyrillic domain appeared in the registries of root servers of global domain addressing lists. It was the first delegated Russian gTLD created as part of the New gTLD program.
Today .ДЕТИ marks its sixth anniversary. Over these years, hundreds of websites were created in this domain zone, first of all designed for children and teenagers as well as their parents and teachers.
The domain’s mission is to create an internet space which can be trusted, increase the growing generation’s digital literacy and gather high-quality online content in one place.
Another important task of .ДЕТИ is to make children’s navigation of the network safe but at the same time easy. A program complex work 24/7 all year round to monitor malicious activities in order to counter malware on the domain’s websites. The Smart Internet Foundation established by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ in 2012 administers .ДЕТИ. The foundation develops children’s internet and support humanitarian internet projects in Russia.
Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev congratulated the domain on its anniversary: “The .ДЕТИ domain is one of the most unusual gTLDs in the world: its audience includes children and teenagers, and the content of all the websites in this zone can be called positive. I am very glad that it was the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ that initiated the first Russian children’s domain. Today we warm-heartedly congratulate .ДЕТИ and the Smart Internet Foundation on the anniversary and wish the domain ever more success.”
