Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ invites you to a discussion on intellectual property protection

On November 22, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ will hold an open expanded meeting of its committees: the Registry Committee, the Committee for the Development of Domain Space, the Internet Governance Committee and the Committee on Legal Issues.

The participants will discuss issues related to the protection of intellectual property (including copyrights for domain names) and registries’ involvement in this process as well as protection of a domain name administrators’ data and ways to use USIA for the authorization and authentication of administrators. In addition, the meeting will cover the center’s projects on how to work with user data and security, including the center’s new service, “friendly whois.”

Holding open joint committee meetings is a new practice for the Coordination Center. This is a first for the committees in this format. The discussion is not only open to committee members but to anyone who is interested in such issues. Preliminary registration and an invitation from the organizers is required.

“The issues we plan to discuss include the domain industry, but they also apply to many other companies, for example, the protection of domain name copyright. It is important for the Coordination Center to not just talk about this, but try to reach a consensus and help registries and trademark owners understand each other and find solutions that are acceptable to everyone. This is why we are inviting everyone to take part in the discussion and why we are gathering all our committees: most issues on the agenda are the same for several of them, and it will be useful to discuss them from different points of view,” said Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev.

The meeting will begin at 2 pm on November 22 in the Small Hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (6/1 Ilyinka Street, Bldg. 1).
