The tenth internet technology festival RIF Voronezh 2019 took place on October 18-19. Its partner, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, also participated. Those at the event got an opportunity to visit the regional premiere of the movie Internet for Everybody and to learn about the stories of people whose lives had been changed by the internet, as well as meet Darya Ledneva, a social entrepreneur from the Voronezh Region, whose story provided the plotline in the movie. It was filmed after being commissioned by the Coordination Center to mark the 25th anniversary of the .RU Russian ccTLD.
In addition to this, the Coordination Center’s stand with the game Learn the Internet, Manage It! worked on both days. Visitors were able to learn new facts about how accredited registrars operated, get special offers on domain name registration in .RU and .РФ and ask questions about working with domains. Everyone who wanted to test their knowledge of internet technology took part in the Learn the Internet, Manage It! quiz and received souvenirs with the emblem of .RU’s 25th anniversary.
The Coordination Center’s Special Project Manager Yevgeny Pankov spoke at the session Security of Online Businesses. He talked about the website’s role in internet businesses as well as legal aspects related to the use of domain names. In his report, “RU/РФ ccTLDs: What internet businesses should know,” he also described the center’s projects aimed at increasing Runet’s security and the Russians’ digital skills.
