Doctor Web signed an agreement with the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ on joining the Netoscope science and technology cooperation project. Doctor Web is a renowned expert on information security, and together with other participants it will carry out research in this field, as well as work on systematizing and categorizing cases of domain name abuse. The cooperation also includes coordinating actions of Doctor Web, the Coordination Center and other participants in the project when organizing events aimed at improving net security.
Doctor Web specializes in finding malicious websites and structuring data on the methods of social engineering and phishing used by criminals. The company’s experts have extensive experience in countering bot networks and mass virus attacks. Cooperation with the Coordination Center and other participants in the Netoscope project will make it possible to quickly exchange the information it had gathered and develop mechanisms to fight cybercrime.
“The number of participants in the Netoscope project is constantly growing. Doctor Web is one of the largest malware-fighting companies on the Russian market. We have worked together with Doctor Web as a competent organization for more than a year, and I believe that expanding our joint work will have a positive impact on the security of the Russian internet,” said Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev.
Last year the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and Doctor Web signed an agreement making Doctor Web a competent organization under the Coordination Center. The Center’s competent organizations collect and analyze information about websites used to spread malware and manage botnets or for phishing and other illegal activities.
The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ established the research platform to aggregate information on malicious websites in ccTLDs back in 2012. A year later, the Netoscope website was created, where the latest data on cyberthreats and ways to counter malicious websites are published. To date, the Netoscope project unites 16 companies: Bizon, Group-IB, Kaspersky Lab, Mail.ru, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor), Rostelecom, RU-CERT, the Technical Center of Internet, Yandex, SURFnet, iThreat Cyber Group Inc., SkyDNS, MasterCard Members' Association, FIFA, NCICC, and Doctor Web.
