New special category at DOT-Journalism Contest

The DOT-Journalism Contest has added a new special category for the best entry on internet governance. The category was initiated by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.

Internet governance is one of the Coordination Center’s key activities. Today, the concept of internet governance refers to a set of basic principles, standards and regulations that regulate the use of the internet and internet evolution, and help governments, businesses and the public agree on these issues.

Since 2010, the Coordination Center, supported by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, has held the Russian Internet Governance Forum. In 2019, the 10th anniversary forum took place. Also, in 2010, the Coordination Center initiated, sponsored and promoted the release of Jovan Kurbalija’s book, Internet Governance, which was published in Russian for the first time. In 2018, the Coordination Center decided to reprint the book, having translated the new, seventh edition of this bestseller.

The book was published in November 2018, and this additional print run was available in 2019.

Also, the Coordination Center will award a special prize to the best entry on the 25th anniversary of .Ru and Runet in general.

The entry period runs until November 1, 2019. The jury will accept articles, journalistic pieces, interviews and reports on domain industry events and related topics. Entries must be created and/or published between October 1, 2018 and November 1, 2019.

The contest results will be announced in December as part of Russian Internet Week 2019 (RIW 2019). Winners will be awarded with certificates, valuable devices, tabletop games, certificates for hosting and domain registration services and a set of “25th anniversary of .RU” commemorative items.
