The Competence Center for Information and Telecommunications Networks and the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ have completed a standard Russian module for studying internet technology. The project took almost a year, and it will help in the of training young specialists for the Russian telecommunications industry.
“Training qualified experts for the Russian information and communications technology infrastructure is a very important task today; in addition, it is important to use Russian technologies in this training. The project, implemented by the Competence Center for Information and Telecommunications Networks with the Coordination Center’s support in less than a year, fully complies with these demands, and I am sure that it will be interesting for the Russian universities that train specialists in building, developing and governing of the internet,” noted the Coordination Center’s Director Andrey Vorobyev.
Last summer experts at the competence center and Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI) suggested developing a standard Russian module for studying internet technologies and introducing it in the education process of the MTUCI Electronic Data Exchange Technology Department. The use of Russian software and hardware is an important part of this project. During project development, a manual and a lab practicum for the Basic Internet Technology course were created and approved by the MTUCI Networks and Communications Technologies faculty council.
After analyzing ways to use existing Russian hardware and software, the MTUCI Electronic Data Exchange Technology Department developed a hardware and software system based on Russian technological solutions. The applied software was adapted to operate on the architecture of Russian work stations using the development standard. The standard Russian module for studying internet technology was tested during classes and prepared for replicating.
The project’s practical importance was praised by the participants in the four specialized conferences as well as the Russian Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Konstantin Noskov and his deputy Mikhail Mamonov.
In addition, this June, MTUCI hosted an offsite meeting of the Coordination Center Council. The council members toured the university lab and praised the project.
