On March 28, 2019 the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and the Internet Development Fund (.SU registry) signed the Memorandum of Cooperation in Cybersecurity. The memorandum aims to coordinate the efforts of Russian TLD registries to counter domain abuse and promote cybersecurity.
This means that the .SU registry has joined the efforts of other Russian domain registries to provide information security. Last November the memorandum was signed by the heads of the Coordination Center and the Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development (FAITID), and the registries .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА.
Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev noted the importance of the registries’ efforts in the fight against cyber threats. “I’m sure that other Russian registries will join our memorandum: we can only fight digital threats by joining our efforts. The .SU registry is our old ally in this area, and the .SU domain is included in our Netoscope information security project. The memorandum remains open to joining,” Vorobyev said.
