‘Information immunity’ necessary for novice users

On February 25, the Information Security and Children national annual scientific and practical conference kicked off at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA). The role of public governance in providing information security at school and at home is the theme of the conference. The conference focuses on the most topical issues related to providing information security at educational institutions via state and public governance.

Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev spoke at the opening ceremony. In his report, The Role of Self-Regulation in Fighting Illegal Content, Andrey Vorobyev noted how important it was for teachers to use internet companies’ experience and presented the Coordination Center’s social projects: the Explore the Internet & Govern It game and other educational projects for children and teenagers. All these projects do not only aim to make those who create internet content and infrastructure and fight cybercrime provide information security but to teach users, the young generation above all, to act safely and appropriately on the web. “We cannot form a sensible information society without helping novice users to build ‘information immunity’,” Andrey Vorobyev noted.

In conclusion, Andrey Vorobyev opened registration for the 2019 National Family IT Marathon, which the Coordination Center is holding together with the National Parents Association, the Academy of Innovative Education and the Smart Internet Foundation for the third time.
