The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and REG.RU, an accredited domain registrar in the .RU and .РФ domain zones, organized an excursion around Moscow’s DataPro data center for students in engineering classes, as part of Safe Runet Week in Russia.
Safe Runet Week has become a traditional event that grew out of International Safer Internet Day. The week of February 5-14 is full of roundtable discussions, meetings of information security experts and educational projects for teenagers. Students on the excursion learned about the structure of a modern data processing center and the functioning of the internet infrastructure and different services within the data center. Special attention was given to the security of various systems. At the end of the tour, the students received gifts from the organizers and the book Internet Governance published by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.
“The excursion is an interactive element of the education process enabling students to literally touch technologies. This opportunity is vital for children nowadays and is consistent with the concept of our educational project Explore the Internet & Govern It! Through online games, apps and quizzes our project gives insight into the structure of the internet and safe and effective ways of using state-of-the-art technologies for education and recreation,” said Viktoria Bunchuk, head of social projects at the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.
