On February 4, the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ held its General Shareholders’ Meeting. The participants discussed the draft priorities of the Coordination Center’s activities for 2020–2022.
According to the documents, the priorities include supporting the compliance of the Russian ccTLDs .RU and .РФ with international standards in the interests of all users, focusing on the storage and use of their personal data. Providing for the integrity, continuity, stability, sustainability and protection of the Russian national internet segment is another important area as well as strengthening the security of the internet. Emphasis will be placed on continuing to work with competent organizations, expanding cooperation with Russian and international information security experts in order to ensure the stable and secure operation of the ccTLDs, and developing the Netoscope project used to gather and analyze information on the criminal use of domain names.
The work carried out to develop the Russian internet community will also continue, including with implementing large national educational projects created both by the Coordination Center and its partners. The center will keep working with school and university students: in particular, the Youth Council under the Coordination Center will develop into a tool to get active young people involved in internet governance and feedback gathering.
The document also notes how important it is to expand the use of the internet in Russia for users, businesses and the state and to ensure the quality and accessibility of domain name registration services. In addition, the participants discussed several other issues, such as the approval of technical and legal amendments to the Charter, the Statute on the Council of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and the Order of Convening a General Shareholders’ Meeting of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, plus the draft agenda of the meeting. The new versions of the documents will be published on the center’s website.
