A regular meeting of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Council took place in the form of absentee voting between July 30 and August 8, 2018. The agenda included the question of altering the implementation of several projects, with the participation of the Coordination Center, as well as administrative issues.
In particular, the Council agreed to change the conditions of implementing projects such as the investigation into how the import substitution process influences the security, sustainability and stability of the Russian internet segment as part of building a digital economy in the Russian Federation and support for the introduction of digital technologies throughout Russia (Digital Region). Both projects are aimed at developing digital technology in Russia, and popularizing and promoting this technology for various categories of users. The expansion of support for these projects is consistent with the Coordination Center’s statutory goals, one of them being to promote the use of the internet in the Russian Federation in the interests of users, businesses and the state.
In addition, the Council decided to support the conference “The current situation and development prospects of the Russian ICT infrastructure: Digital transformation.” The Coordination Center will co-host the conference and one of its sections, and also present several thematic reports. The conference, organized by the Russian Association of Networks and Services (RANS), will be held on October 17–18, 2018.
