Doctor Web becomes new competent organization with Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ

The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ and Dr.Web signed an agreement according to which Dr.Web, a recognized information security expert, will become a new competent organization linked to the Coordination Center.

Competent organizations of the Coordination Center collect and analyze information on websites used for spreading malware, phishing, botnet control and other offenses. A competent organization that discovered an offender or received a report from end users will file a request with an .RU/.РФ accredited registrar to cancel delegation of the respective domain to prevent unlawful use of the domain name.

Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrei Vorobyev commented: “Dr.Web is an acclaimed and recognized expert in fighting malware in Russia. We respect its many years of experience. I am certain cooperation with the company will contribute to prompt and efficient exposure and neutralization of threats across the domain.”

“Revealing malicious websites is our focus,” said Dr.Web CEO Boris Sharov. “Our specialists have extensive experience in combating botnets and large-scale virus attacks. Cooperation with the Coordination Center and domain name registrars will improve the response to these threats and suppress malicious activity in Runet.”

The Coordination Center has been working with competent organizations since 2012. There are currently nine agencies on the list, including companies, public organizations and government agencies: Safe Internet League, Group-IB, Kaspersky Lab, Central Bank of Russia, RU-CERT, ROCIT, Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor), BI.ZONE and Dr.Web.

Internet users are encouraged to report inappropriate use of a domain name by contacting the hotline or filing a complaint with any of the competent organizations. Action will be taken immediately.
