On June 15, the regular spring seminar series Website Formula came to a close. The Coordination Center for the National Internet Domain has been taking part in the Website Formula since 2016. By now, its experts have spoken in many cities of Russia.
This year, seminars involving representatives of the Coordination Center took place in Makhachkala, Yaroslavl, Naberezhnyye Chelny, Orenburg, Saratov, Tambov, Barnaul and Ivanovo. The main themes were private data protection, disputes over domain names, relations with rights holders and the blocking of domains. In 2018, the agenda included one more relevant issue – providing registrars with information about a domain administrator upon a lawyer’s request. Not long ago, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media made it clear that a registrar is not obliged to provide the data upon an attorney’s request if the domain administrator has not granted consent. In spring 2018, overall attendance at seminars involving the Coordination Center exceeded 2,000 people – on average some 250 participants at each of the nine seminars.
“The Website Formula seminar series is gaining popularity with entrepreneurs nationwide every year. We can see the growth in domain-related subjects and we are raising more complicated issues regarding the law and nuances of domain name administration. Our involvement in Website Formula promotes the use of the internet and the national domains .RU and .РФ across Russia, and we will continue this work into the future,” said Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Andrey Vorobyev.
