On April 26, the Expocenter exhibition hall hosted the sixth youth forum Ethical, Cultural and Civilizational Issues of Internet Activity, dedicated to the creation of a culture of information security and research on trust and safety in using the information technologies. The forum was held as part of the 2018 Big Media Communication Forum. The audience of the youth forum is primarily students and lecturers of relevant universities. The forum was organized by the Russian Association for Networks and Services with the support of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.
In his opening remarks, Coordination Center Director Andrey Vorobyev said that the center was establishing a youth chamber, which will be a consultative body engaged in involving young people in internet governance. “For the past three years, the Russian Internet Governance Forum (RIGF) has been forming the youth agenda and encouraging students to participate. We see profound interest from young people in this process; they want to learn, develop and contribute to internet governance. It is very important for us to get the young generation involved because they can help us get a new and fresh look at today’s process of internet governance. We plan to carry on this tradition for future events, and, of course, the youth chamber will take a most active part in the preparations,” Vorobyev said.
The Ethical, Cultural and Civilizational Issues of Internet Activity forum has been held since 2013. It brings together lecturers, students and postgraduates from technical universities. The forum targets talented young people who are going to have a career in IT, communications or internet security.
