The first meeting of the Committee for the Development of Domain Space, a new consultative body of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, took place on 13 February. The Committee was created from the Committee on Infrastructure; in the new format in addition to technological issues it will participate in determining development vectors of the domain space in the areas of economy, marketing, government relations and cooperation between market players. New members joined the Committee, the Chairman of which is Alexander Scherbakov.
At the first meeting experts discussed the activity plan as well as Rules and Regulations of the consultative body. Moreover, they talked about the appeal/initiative of one of the interested users regarding registrars’ support of the DNSSEC technology as well as other topics.
“I’m certain that such an extension of the field of activity will benefit our Committee. Issues of the infrastructure development can’t be analyzed in isolation from marketing, economic issues, especially in our industry where technological development and the market are closely related,” said Alexander Scherbakov.
Apart from the Committee for the Development of Domain Space other Coordination Center committees such as the Internet Governance Committee and Committee on Legal Issues will start working in 2018 with new members. Their first meetings will take place in the near future.
