On 30 January, a working meeting with the accredited registrars in domains .RU and .РФ dedicated to the change of the registry’s operator took place at the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ office. Irina Danelia, Deputy CEO of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, Alexey Platonov, General Director/CEO at the AO Technical Center of Internet (JSC), and Olga Yakovleva, General Director/CEO at the OOO Technical Center of Internet (LLC), met with the registrars. They explained in detail the way the transfer will be done and within what timeframe; moreover, they answered all the questions. Online broadcast was organized for all the registrars who couldn't attend the meeting.
As it was previously reported, all services that AO TCI provides today will be gradually transferred from AO to OOO, new contracts with registrars will be concluded. The transfer of support functions to a new organization will additionally increase reliability, stability and sustainability of the registry's function. The best practices and technologies of the AO Technical Center of Internet as well as highly qualified personnel working currently at AO TCI will be transferred to OOO TCI upon agreement of the parties. There won't be any significant changes neither for the registrars, nor for the end-users, highlight CC, AO TCI and OOO TCI managers.
Andrei Kuzmichev, Chief Product Officer at RU-CENTER, who participated in the working meeting, pointed out that such meetings allow to quickly solve all issues, which registrars might face when changing the registry's operator: “A complex process such as the change of registry’s operator requires detailed study of all issues. We are planning to resolve them in close contact with the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ, AO TCI and OOO TCI. The stability of the registry’s and registration system’s function should be the number one priority. All processes should be conducted with the minimal risks for domain administrators and the registration systems as a whole”, said Andrei Kuzmichev.
We remind that the General Meeting of the founders of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ adopted the proposal of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation and decided to transfer the functions of country-code domains .RU and .РФ technical center (operator of registries) to the subsidiary of PAO Rostelecom Group of Companies (PJSC).
