A regular meeting of the Coordination Center Council took place on December 25. There have been changes in the Council’s membership: three new founding shareholders’ representatives have been approved. Due to the change of director of the Internet Development Institute, the institute will be represented by the new director, Sergei Petrov, instead of Yekaterina Rudykh. The Russian Ministry of Communications and Mass Media will be represented by Deputy Director of the Department of High Technology Development Dmitry Nikitin, who replaced in this capacity the director of this department, Salavat Migranov.
During the meeting, the Council members also examined the changes in the technological registration procedure for expiring domain names. They have also approved new rates for the expiring domain registration system. This system was developed by the Technical Center of Internet and is now being tested by registrars. It allows registrars to register domains chosen by their clients as soon as they expire. The service is planned to be launched at the beginning of the next year.
The Council has approved the draft 2018 budget of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ as regards financing a number of projects. The budget envisages the further development of the registration system and the technological infrastructure as well as social and education projects, targeted events and initiatives, analytical studies and the promotion of the TLDs .RU and .РФ. The draft financial operating plan for 2018 was approved at the previous Council meeting.
