This year, the national internet safety lesson, which was held on October 30, has become the starting point for a whole cycle of the Coordination Center’s events on cybersecurity for children and teenagers. One day was not enough for all the events prepared by the Coordination Center’s employees, so lessons, games, lectures and meetings continue in November.
Mikhail Anisimov, deputy head of the Coordination Center’s Information Service, held a webinar for lecturers from the Leningrad Regional Institute of Education Development right from his office. He spoke about how to teach basic cybersecurity to children, what kinds of threats exist on the web, how to avoid becoming a victim of criminals and hackers, and where to go if you find inappropriate content on the internet. During the webinar, lecturers learned about special hotlines of various agencies and got their contact details. A similar webinar is planned for Belgorod teachers and librarians on November 15.
Tatyana Novikova, senior project manager at the Coordination Center for TLD.RU/.РФ, and Viktoria Bunchuk, project manager at the Smart Internet Foundation (.ДЕТИ domain), taught internet safety lessons at schools. The Coordination Center also held Information Security Day at Moscow Kerimov School No. 1583 together with the BIS Center and the Academy of Innovative Education and Development, where they conducted interactive games, conversations and workshops to teach the children about the main cyber threats, how they spread and how to fight them. School students also learned the basics of personal data protection and were warned about the most common internet crimes.
Tatyana Novikova presented the Coordination Center’s project Explore the Internet & Govern It! and invited school children to take part in the online tournament, which started on November 1. The participants can test their knowledge of the global web. Students in 7th and 8th grades participated in the quiz based on the project. A series of Explore the Internet & Govern It! local online championships dedicated to the national internet safety lesson took place on October 30.
In addition, a TV show about the national internet safety lesson was filmed at the Federation Council on November 8, with Director of the Coordination Center Andrei Vorobyev taking part in it. He spoke about the center’s events held as part of the lesson to increase digital awareness in children and school students. Senator Lyudmila Bokova, who conceived this national project, also took part in the filming.
