On October 30, 2017, the Safe Internet United Lesson will take place in Russian schools for the fourth time https://единыйурок.рф/index.php/kalendar-edinykh-urokov/item/7-edinyj-urok-po-bezopasnosti-v-seti-internet. The main task of the event is to improve children’s digital skills. They will learn how to navigate the Internet safely, protect themselves from negative content and malware, and ensure confidentiality while using information technology.
Every year millions of school students take part in the Safe Internet United Lesson. In 2016, this number exceeded 12.4 million.
The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ has prepared a series of local online tournaments under the project Explore the Internet &Govern It! for this day. The Coordination Center together with the Moscow Department of Information Technology will hold them in a number of Moscow schools. The tournaments will also be held at schools, lyceums and colleges in other Russian regions (Samara, Yaroslavl, Tula, Chelyabinsk and Murmansk regions, Khabarovsk and Perm territories and Tatarstan and Dagestan republics).
Participants of the Explore the Internet & Govern It! tournament will solve tasks related on the Internet security. In addition, every school student can take a test on the website http://единыйурок.дети/ to check how well he uses the web: the test’s 20 questions cover basic topics of Internet security. The test is for school students aged 11–19 years.
Explore the Internet & Govern It! is an educational project for school students run by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ with support of Rostelecom. The centerpiece of the project is an educational website, where people can learn about the possibilities and principles of the Internet in easy and entertaining format. There is also a training mobile app that helps test skills. The National Online Championship for School Students is held as part of the project every year: it starts on November 1 and is dedicated to the Internet of things. More than 90,000 users all around Russia have already become participants of the project.
