Cyber results and prospects: Group-IB holds annual CyberCrimeCon/17

On October 10, Group-IB, a permanent participant of the Netoscope project, will hold its annual CyberCrimeCon/17, dedicated to developing trends in cybercrimes and technologies for proactive security. At this conference, Group-IB experts will present the results of the annual report Hi-Tech Crime Trends 2017, based on the data from early cyber threat warnings, and will forecast how the situation will develop next year. The experts will also discuss their work on preventing crimes and combatting illegal content, which Group-IB does as a competent organization at the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.

“In terms of cyber results, most people will remember this year mostly because of the events widely discussed in the media: large-scale attacks by WannaCry and Petya encrypters. The second most popular topic was probably blockchain, cryptocurrency and ICO. Hacker attacks on critical infrastructure systems have not yet resulted in such large-scale destruction or victims; so they are hardly ever discussed, except by specialists,” said Dmitry Volkov, Chief Technical Officer, Head of Investigation Department and Intelligence service and co-founder of Group-IB.

“It is obvious for us as experts that these events are just the tip of the iceberg. At the conference, we would like to discuss what’s hidden from most people, but will influence them as soon as next year.”

The conference will unite the best Russian and foreign experts: cyber threat researchers, representatives of large banks and telecoms, trading, industrial and high-tech companies as well as law enforcement to exchange experience in Threat Intelligence and machine learning technologies.

Speakers (among others):

  • Noboru Nakatani, Executive Director, INTERPOL IGCI, Interpol cybercrime investigations.
  • Ilya Remizov, CTO, Blackmoon, a company that raised $30 million through an ICO in one day in August 2017.
  • Tamer El Bahey, Senior Director, Security Monitoring and Operations, Du Telecom: large Middle East telecommunications company.
  • Sander van der Maden, Advisor Team High Tech Crime, Dutch National Police.
  • The event will take place at 4/1 Vostochnaya Street, Moscow (ZIL Cultural Center), 10:00-17:00. The news conference will start at 14:00. The registration form is available on the website or via email to Group-IB press service: pr@group-ib.com.

Details and the registration form are available at the event website: http://2017.group-ib.com>.

The event is organized with information support by the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ.
